Peer-Tutoring What is Peer-Tutoring? You may ask. Peer-Tutoring is an activity whereby the Primary 5 pupils are assigned to teach Primary 1 pupils who are slow at reading and unable to pronouce most words correctly. Our form teacher, Mrs Vevian Ng, chose a few pupils which also included us from Primary 5.1 to be peer tutors. On the first day, Madam Norazlin, the teacher-in-charge, explained to us what we had to do during Peer-Tutoring lessons, including how to help the pupils with their reading. During the Peer-Tutoring lessons, we taught the Primary 1 pupils how to improve their reading and fluency instead of reading words one by one which would affect their oral results. Every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, we would go to the LSP room, ( a special room for Peer-Tutoring ) to wait for our peers to come for the peer-tutoring lessons. Their pronouciation increased swiftly and they became more fluent in their reading. Watching them improve made us happy! |
